In the first few days after a traumatic event it is normal to experience some distress. This may include difficulties in sleeping, distressing thoughts and memories popping into mind, nightmares, irritability, feelings of helplessness, reliving aspects of what has happened.

Depending on your experience you may have received offers of help from your employer, the hospital, the Major Trauma Service or the Police.
